If I Agreed, We'd Both Be Wrong

Desserts... I LOVE desserts. If only I could eat them all day. Unfortunately, that wouldn't be a good thing to do, now would it? And secondly, I might not enjoy them as much as I do now after eating only desserts for a couple of days. Bummer.

Seriously, I wonder why in most restaurants they prepare the most delicious main courses, but a lousy vanilla ice cream with some canned fruit and whipped cream if you are lucky. That 'sweird, ain't it? I don't believe it is so hard to prepare a proper dessert. I mean, even I could do it.

Of course, in good restaurants (probably with Michelin stars) they do have perfect desserts. As they should. I am not the most critical person in the world (sort of), but I already dislike the restaurant if the desserts are too simple (and boring). No matter how good the rest is. To me is the dessert just as important as the main course, so why discriminate it?

A few simple tips for nice desserts.
- Avoid vanilla ice cream (especially when not homemade)
- Use the internet to search for recipes.
- Make different sorts. Some people not like dairy products, others want fruits, some people like sweet desserts and others prefer some ice cream.

I'm going to end this post now, 'cause it makes me hungry. I know this post is useless and doesn't really make sense. Think of it what you want. I want to remind you that this is my opinion and that you don't necessarily need to agree with me.

How To Stop My Brain From Falling Apart

Sometimes it is so easy to forget things. To stop thinking and carry on with your ordinary life. Sorry for my lack of posting. But I needed to focus on my schoolwork, because this year I get some tests at the end of the school year about the whole book, and if you don't pay attention in the beginning, you're screwed. That's why. Still sorry. But you'll forgive me, right? That's enough about school for now.

Rain. Rain. Rain. It can't stop raining. Past month it has rained cats and dogs (that's a weird idiom, by the way). Some days seemed hopeful and sunny, but the next day was as rainy as all others before. It makes me sad (and wet). Plants seem to like the rain, but they're the only ones. Birds desperately seek a place to stay dry, people prefer to take the car, even for the short rides and cats stay inside, afraid of the rain. Still life continues as if it were an ordinary sunny day. But then with more wet people arriving at school/work.

" When it rains on your parade, you look up rather than down
After all, without the rain, there would be no rainbow "
- Gilbert K. Chesterton, writer

What about the global warming? I haven't really noticed anything. They keep saying the Earth is in danger and that the temperature will rise, but why doesn't that really influence the weather here, in the Netherlands? Not that I think the Greenhouse effect is bullshit, but sometimes I wonder whether it is really as bad and as dangerous as they say.

Bye. Oh, and before I forget: the monster says hi.

I'm Glad I'm Not A Train 'Cause I Lost Track

August already started 11 days ago, but I hadn't realized that until today. Funny how I can loose track of time when I have no (daily) obligations for a long while. I love that feeling. Not caring about anything and only doing whatever I like.

The picture shows the sunset + me and a friend trying to make a heart. I have to admit, this picture was taken quite a while ago, but it shows exactly how I feel.

I hope your holidays are interesting and that all of you have a good time.

Bye.

When Everybody Goes Left, I Turn Right

Hello. Long time no posts. Not because I had no time, just because I was on vacation in Sweden. There they don't have Internet everywhere, so posting wasn't possible. But I assume nobody got hurt due to my lack of posting.

Almost everyone I know went to the South this summer, but I didn't. Like i said, I went to Sweden. Boy, do I love that country. The beautiful nature, the friendly people, the funny language - everything. I wouldn't mind going there every summer.

Fortunately the holiday hasn't ended yet, so I have loads of time left to have fun with my friends. At the moment I don't have any interesting pictures to post, but they'll come soon!

I hope you all have/had a nice holiday.

Pretend That Airplanes Are Like Shooting Stars

" I could use a dream
Or a genie or a wish
To go back to a place
Much simpler than this
'Cause after all the partyin'
And smashin' and crashin'
And all the glitz
And glam and the fashion
And all the pandemonium
And all the madness
There comes a time
Where you fade
To the blackness
And when you're staring
At that phone in your lap
And you hopin'
But them people
Never call you back
But that's just
How the story unfolds
You get another hand
And soon after you fold
And when your plans unravel
And they sayin'
What would you wish for
If you had one chance
So airplane, airplane
Sorry I'm late
I'm on my way
So don't close that gate
If I don't make that
Then I'll switch my flight
And I'll be right back at it
By the end of the night "

Picknicks Make Me Go Crazy

Here are a few of the pictures of the picnic I had this Monday. As promised.

- The camera accidentally focused on the leaves. But who says blurred pictures can't be cool?

- Three of my friends running towards me. It looks a bit photo-shopped, but it really isn't.

- Spying on you.

- The girl on the background (she has a name that I am or am not going to mention here) apparently wasn't in the mood for jumping, but I was!

- A potato crisp and a friend wanting that crisp very badly.

- The mess we created (and afterward cleaned up).

- They're standing on my finger (I know this is an epic fail).

- A flying candy. Why? Because we like flying candies.

I love to picnic. And I'm sure I'm going to do it every once in a while this summer. Have I already convinced you?

Mat Som Äts På Picknick

My holidays finally have started. Today I had my last tests and this afternoon I had a picnic with my class. That was really awesome. We had loads of delicious food and of course we had a lot of fun. We organized this picnic to celebrate that our holidays have started and to be together as a class for (probably) the last time. Next year we will be mixed with other classes.

We went into the woods and made pictures, but I don't have those at the moment. As soon as I have them I'll post them. I promise.

Some substitute pictures found on the internet.

No Place In The World That Can Compare

" Grew up in a town
That is famous as
A place of movie scenes
Noise is always loud
There are sirenes all around
And the streets are mean
If I can make it here
I can make it anywhere
That's what they say
Seeing my face in lights
Or my name on marquees
Found down on Broadway

(...)

On the avenue
There ain't never a curfew
Ladies work so hard
Such a mountain pot
On the corner selling rock
Preachers pray to God
And a gypsy cab
Takes me down from Harlem
To the Brooklyn Bridge
Someone sleeps tonight
With the hunger for more
Than an empty fridge "

Mugs Make Moments More Majestic

Mugs are underappreciated. And I think that we should appreciate it more. Respect for the mugs! Glasses are too fragile, plastic beakers are not classy and cups are too posh. The mug can be stylish, funny and nonchalant.

Mugs can be used for cold as well for hot drinks. You can put soup in it, hot coco, coffee and lots more!

Long live the mugs!

Why exactly am I trying to make people appreciate mugs more? Just because I like them and people should appreciate silly and small things in life. See the good/funny side of everything and you'll feel a lot happier. I know that that is easier said than done, but it works for me.

Time Keeps Things From Happening All At Once

Sometimes I wish I could slow down the time - to embrace the moment. Other times I wish I could skip certain moments - they are a waste of my time. Unfortunately, my life is no film of which I can skip chapters or experience moments over and over again. I can't reverse it to create some funny scenes, or to play it in slow motion. Bummer.

On the other hand, when I am old and sitting in my chair next to a Geranium, I want to look back on my life and be able to think; " Yes, my life was good the way  it was. Even those sad or boring moments were fine the way they were. Without them I would never have had the time to regain energy for all those other moments. I might not have lived life to the fullest, and I might have made some stupid mistakes, but so be it. I lived my life that way, and I think I did just fine. "

In that case am I not thinking about the fact that there are loads of other people who are perfectly capable of ruining my life, and that I might not become old, for some reason. It's just the thought that everything will be all right that counts.

Do The Brussels Hussle!

Tomorrow I am going on a school trip (again). This time we're going to Brussels. I have been there before about six years ago when I had won a competition. Back then it was a kinda horrible trip, but I won't bother you with that crazy/crappy story right now. I'm sure my trip to Brussles this time will be awesome. Not because I like visiting the European Parliament, but because my class is an amazing class, and together we will make it a great trip. I am sure of it.

Here are some funny pictures I found on the internet. It was a site of someone (I think it was a he, and that he was German, but I might be wrong) who makes Post-it notes. Some of them are quite funny, at least I think. Decide for yourself what you think of them, of course.

Flowers Grow In The Sky

" No, I'm not high on drugs. This post title can be explained in a different way: It is just a wonderful day today. Really perfect. Today my lessons at school started at 11 o'clock, so I didn't need to get up early. The sun was shining and the temperature high enough to wear no coat. It was rather pleasant to cycle to school (with a flower in my hair). I felt happy (and I still do) and I even noticed that I actually liked going to school. That was freaky, even to me. "

This was something I wrote Friday. I have no idea why I haven't posted it directly, but I figured "ah what do I care, I just post it now". So that is exactly what I am doing at this very moment. Today the weather was nice as well, except for the fact it wasn't sunny.

And now that I am busy telling you what happened in my ordinary life, I'll also tell you about my Saturday. I was invited to go to a film. It was in the CineMec, located in Ede (NL) - which is btw the best and the largest cinema of the NL. The entrance was free and we got a free drink. The weather was also very nice, so the cycle to the cinema was very nice. The film is Dutch and it is called: " Lang & Gelukkig " ('Happily ever after') . It'll be in the cinema's in December this year. After the film we needed to fill out a form to say what we thought of the film. That was really fun to do.

I hope you had a good weekend a well! Bye.

My Jack Is Somewhere Chasing Jill

" You say you like candy
Well stick with me
I've got some sugar up my sleeve
You like money
Place your bets on me
These odds are going crazy

Don't be afraid of the big bad wolf
He's just a sheep underneath those teeth
And don't be afraid of the wicked witch
She ain't so bad, she ain't no bitch

(...)

Ladies if you feel me holler
Fellas show us all the dollar
Little riding hood is such a flirt
She got miss Muffet all up in her skirt
And Hansel and Gretel never made it home
They go some cooking to do of their own

(...)

Oh Rapunzel
Let down your golden hair
Giddy up on your big white horse
Even if your prince ain't there
Oh I'd like forever after
Like every princess should
But there's always another chapter
And the apple sure tastes good

It Only Takes A Few Words To Describe Peace

Overcomes the love of power
The world will know peace "

In the meanwhile that some others are thinking about the right words to describe the essence of peace, let us bring it into realization. You don't need to say it, just do it.

Nothing. Just A Party

This banana speaks for itself. I don't know why it sais " Celebrating Randomness ", but I don't really care actually. Feel free to think of a reason for celebration yourself. Go wild and party the night away! Or sit on the couch and be happy. Whatever you prefer.

Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me

It's a beautiful day - the sun is shining
No. The sun is not shining at all. (well, of course it is, otherwise it would be dark right now, but you know what I mean). Too bad. Life can't always be perfect. I really liked that the past few days were sunny and had a comfortable temperature.

Here some random pictures to possibly cheer the depressed people (due to the current weather)  up.

Keep wishing for lots of sunny days this summer!

Only England Can Do That To Me

Heei.
It's been a while since I posted for the last time. But, like I said, I went to England for a few days. And it was sooo great! I can't tell you the whole story and all the great things that happened, because that would take too long, and I am afraid I'll fall asleep while I'm busy typing the story. Yeah, that's right, I'm really tired.
At this moment I can't upload any pictures yet, because this computer can't do that. I'll try to do that in the coming few days. You can go to one of these blogs; they are of a couple of my friends who also went to England with me. They'll post pictures and stories about our trip in the coming few days as well I suppose. Selma, Laura, Laurie, Yenka.
A little summary: Leave very early on Monday morning from Ede (NL) for Calais (FR). Then go by ferry to Dover (EN). We missed the ferry, so we needed to wait for 2 hours for the next one. Travel by bus to Oxford (EN). Tuesday: Sightseeing in Oxford and shopping. Wednesday: Visit London (EN). Go to British Museum, Harrods.  And of course, go shopping. BTW, the Primark is a genious shop. Cheap clothing, shoes, sunglasses, accessories etc! On our way back in the bus to Oxford, we had a party in the bus! That was sooo much fun! Thursday: head back to Dover to leave by ferry for Calais and then continue the journey back by bus to Ede. We got back at 10 pm. We stayed at night in host families. I was in a host family together with Laura.
Like I said before in this post, I'll post some details, funny events and pictures in the coming days.
Bye.

Tea Is Not My Cup Of Tea

Oh dear. We have a confusing post title. What does she want to say this time? Well, actually nothing. I just thought it was a nice sentence. Some people might call this an annoying sentence, using an idiom in such a peculiar way. I don't care. Then don't read it.

Furthermore, I am going to Oxford this week. It's a school trip. We leave at 4.45 am, Monday. Yes, you read that correctly. Great. It means getting up early, and I am an evening person - not a morning person. I won't go into further detail, 'cause it would only bore you.
This means I can't post for a few days. Afterward I'll put up loads of pictures of the trip. Then people who are possibly interested in our trip can see how it was.

GotW - Horror Bath

Also this week another gadget. But, I have to confess that it isn't really a gadget that I have this week. It's just a very cool item I once saw. So I thought it might be nice to share this fantastic, yet scary item that every horror fan needs to have in his/her bathroom.
So here I introduce: The Killer Curtain and Bath Mat!

* This gadget is not appropriate for people who are easily scared (in the bathroom).
I hope you'll survive! And for the real freak are there also other scary items like the blood showergel.
!!!Please look for other sites >>>before buying this object<<< yourself, because the one I've given might not be the cheapest!!!

Create And Inspire

 http://pona.files.wordpress.com/2008/09/colourbrushwalk.gif

A painting to think about. What do you see? What do you want to see? What image can you create with your imagination? Can you make the image move? Think about that for a while.
I have no idea if this has a positive effect on your brain, but I'm sure it can't do any harm. It's just that art is very personal, everyone can have its own opinion whether it is beautiful or not. Now you can make a pretty piece of art yourself, unless you deliberately create an ugly image in you imagination.

On The City's Edge

I only need to walk for a few minutes to get to the edge of the city I live in. Then you get to the river the Rijn. Along the river are the Uiterwaarden (floodplain). That's a beautiful place to be on a (quiet) day, especially when the sun is about to set.
I went there last week with a couple of friends, just to escape the stampede of people visiting the concerts in the shopping center. It was really nice and calming to be there.

It would be a real pity to loose this nice place. Luckily, it'll still be there 'till at least the near future. Everyone deserves to have a place like this close to their home.

To See Through Pink Sunglasses

" Riding through the city on my bike all day
'Cause the filth too away my license
It doesn't get me down and I feel OK
'Cause the sights I'm seeing are priceless
Everything seems to look as it should
But I wonder what goes on behind doors
A fella looking dapper
But he's sittin' with a slapper
Then I see it's a pimp and his crack whore

You might laugh, you might frown
Walkin' 'round London town

(...)

When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
When you look twice
You can see it's all lies

There was a little old lady who was walking down the road
She was struggling with bags from Tesco
There were people from the city havin' lunch in the park
I believe that is called out fresco
When a kid came along to help her a hand
But before she had time to accept it
Hist her over the head
Doesn't care if she's dead
'Cause he's got all her jewellery and wallet "

Like a Frog

When you google pictures of a frog, you find the strangest pictures now and then. Here is an example.

Very weird... Anyway, why would I want to google a picture of a frog? Simple question, simple answer. I actually need to start with my homework, but I don't want to do so. That means I search for random things in the Google-picture-search-machine. This time I searched for pictures of frogs.
This is another image I found. Just to tell you guys that:
http://i215.photobucket.com/albums/cc263/ladyblue68/Ladycat68/Ladyjo68/I_Like_You_Dancing_Froggy.gif

I think I really need to do my homework now. So I will (at least, I'll pretend to start with it). Bye.
